Job Summary
Lead and own the precision injection-moulding function to ensure on-time, defect- free delivery of plastic components (washer tanks, wiper-motor housings & moulded parts) to OEM/Tier-1 customers. Drive process reliability, tooling health, cost competitiveness and continuous improvement while ensuring safety and compliance with automotive quality standards.
Professional Experience Required
8–12 years total manufacturing experience with minimum 5 years in injection moulding / precision moulding in an automotive environment (Tier-1/OEM). Experience with Mold trials, tool-room coordination and APQP/PPAP expected.
Job Description
Major roles & esponsibilities
A. Production & Process Management
Plan, schedule and ensure achievement of daily/weekly production targets for moulded components.
Set and maintain process standards (cycle time, machine parameters, SOPs) and lead SMED/OEE improvement.
Execute and lead mold trials, ramp-up and industrialization for new parts.
Ensure shift handovers, line balancing and skills allocation for consistent output.
B. Quality & Customer Assurance
Implement and maintain APQP / PPAP deliverables for new and changed parts.
Drive First-Pass Yield, control plan adherence, PFMEA updates and corrective action systems for customer complaints and internal defects.
Work with QA for dimensional control, testing and inspection routings.
C. Tooling & Maintenance
Own tooling health: preventive maintenance schedule, spare parts planning, mold repair/ refurbishment coordination with tool room and external mold makers.
Minimize mold downtime and ensure Molds meet tolerance & life targets.
D. Cost, Materials & Inventory Control
Drive material usage optimization, scrap reduction and rework minimization.
Manage resin consumption, regrind policy, and coordinate with Purchase on material quality & cost.
Control tooling & consumables inventory for molding operations.
E. People Leadership & Safety
Lead, coach and develop a team of 5 direct reports and broader shop-floor staff; run daily Gemba, trainings and performance reviews.
Ensure 5S, workplace safety, and compliance to EHS norms in the molding area.
F. Continuous Improvement & New Product Development (NPD)
Lead Kaizen, problem solving (8D/Root cause) and lean initiatives in molding area.
Support R&D/Design for Manufacturability (DFM/DFMEA) reviews and provide manufacturability feedback during product design.
G. External & Cross-Functional Coordination
Serve as the focal point for tooling vendors, mold makers, and process equipment suppliers.
Coordinate with Plant Head, Production, QA, Tool Room, Purchase, Logistics, and Engineering for seamless operations.
